Empowering Rural Women - Information about Women Empowerment
“Women
are the building blocks of any society, the stronger they are the more
prosperous the society is.”
The world is
progressing exponentially in today’s tech-savvy era. The people all over the
world are evolving & adapting to the fast-paced life but the story of women
all over the world especially in developing countries is pretty similar&
sad.
Even in the present day, women are considered liabilities & are denied
basic human rights like education, freedom of expression , professional
equality etc.
Saraswatii foundation
values the innate strength & capabilities of the Indian women & we
diligently work towards creating a better, dignified & empowered future for
them. We have seen uneducated women of village turning into successful
entrepreneurs with a little bit of guidance & motivation.
We believe that
independent & empowered women are the key to a happy, healthy &
prospering society. The foundation lays emphasis on the following areas in order
to empower the rural women:
Preventing
female foeticide: The ratio of girls over 1000 boys has
been constantly dropping over the years especially in the rural areas & the
reason isn’t genetic it’s the inhumane killing of an unborn female foetus also known
as female foeticide.
The foundation team conducts special counselling for
pregnant women &create awareness against female foeticide. We counsel the
would-be mothers to not succumb to any pressure & give birth to their baby
girls.
Educating
the girl child: Education is the tool that helps us open
our mind, dispels the darkness of ignorance & leads us towards a wider
horizon. Educating a girl child is the most important step of empowerment. The
foundation encourages little girls to pursue formal schooling & ensures
their right to education.
Providing
scholarships for higher studies: Many a times we have
seen bright girls dropping out of school either because of family pressure or
because of poor financial conditions at home, the Foundation motivates
meritorious girl students to pursue their dreams by providing full scholarships
for higher & professional studies.
Training
women in the art of weaving: The foundation
periodically conducts training camps for women, where they are trained in the
traditional art of hand weaving. The foundation also provides free of cost
spinning wheel (charkha) to rural women so that they can work from the comfort
of their homes.
Providing
dignified means of livelihood: The foundation has
provided employment to more than 4000 women by giving them proper training
& dignified work.
These women are now the proud bread earners for their
families. A few of the village women have also installed their own looms &
have successfully turned into small scale entrepreneurs.
A
woman’s stature in any society frames the future of it.
The Saraswatii foundation is determined to create a better & brighter world
for our generations to come.
